I am Dr. Jesse Smith, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. With a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and a PhD in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy, my expertise lies in addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, trauma, existential and spiritual identity and development, LGBTQ+ communities, couples, and families.

As someone who has personally experienced long-term recovery, I actively participate in a 12-Step program and support those who choose this path. However, I also recognize and respect alternative routes to addiction-free lives. Early on in my own recovery journey, I realized that helping others would become my life's purpose. Regardless of the path you choose, I am here to guide you towards recovery.

Previously, as a family-based therapist at Child Guidance Resource Centers, I provided intensive home- and community-based family therapy to children, adolescents, and their families dealing with social, emotional, and behavioral disorders from 2019-2022. I am deeply committed to delivering culturally competent treatment to underserved populations in the Philadelphia community.

In my role as an adjunct faculty member at Drexel University, I am passionate about teaching and supervising aspiring clinicians, ensuring they acquire effective and empathetic treatment styles through collaborative work.

I employ various modalities, including emotion-focused therapy, the Gottman Method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, structural family therapy, and Internal Family Systems, among others, to assist individuals, couples, and families in overcoming their challenges.

Having made Philadelphia my home, I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community and support its growth. Go Birds!
